About this event
- 2 hours 30 minutes
Climate activists have been taken over by tractors as farmers have taken to the streets over legislative changes that are meant to address the climate impact of industrialised farming.
On 8 May, at Frederiksberg Rådhuskælder, we are going to talk about how we envision a new age of farming, of food security, of land protection and what agricultural innovation actually means and what the role of the EU should be.
Alexander Holm, biologist and the expert behind the initiative Den Dyriske Time will provide us with his expertise and we will hear from our European Parliamentary candidates on what they will do to fight for our environment.
The next European Parliament will have to tackle the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and envision new ways of empowering sustainable farming - but what will our candidates do and how do they plan to shape the debate if they are elected?
This is our 3rd series of English language debates and as always, the debate is introduced by experts, who will frame the debate and followed by a Q&A session with our European Candidates. All in English.
Why an English language debate series in Denmark?
With 277.000 EU Citizens living in Denmark, and with around 50.000 of these live in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, we need to discuss EU and European issues in more in broader terms than Danish as usual.
Leading up to the European Parliament elections to be held on the 9th of June 2024, EU Citizens must decide whether to vote in Denmark or their country of citizenship - and then register accordingly.
Registering isn't automatic, like in the municipal elections. But what to choose when most, if not all, debates on EU politics are in Danish?
